Assignment

In this assignment:

• Logon to the intermedia3 server and establish your account.
• Create a folder inside your sites folder to hold for your first weeks assignment files.
• Create an images folder inside this folder and place some pictures in this folder (images can be jpg, gif, or png format only).
• In your week1 assignement folder create several pages that utilize image tags and hyperlinks. At least one of the hyperlinks should open a page in a new window. At least one of the hyperlinks should use an absolute URL
• Set up a homepage for your semester portfolio and name it "index.html" and place it in your Sites folder.
• On your homepage, create a link on this page that opens your week1 assignment page

In this and all assignments you should work up to the level of your knowledge. That is, if you already know all of this stuff, take the basic idea of the assignment and extend it to your level of expertise.

You can use the example pages for reference ("View Source" on these to see how they work.)

Don't worry about the aesthetic qualities of these first pages. I am only concerned that you understand image tags and hyperlinks. Next week we will be looking at Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). CSS is an extension to HTML that is used to control the display and layout of HTML pages.

My standard office hours are Friday from 1-4. I am also available by email and can meet you at other times.
