Recursions

November 15 [7:30 - 8:30 PM]

University of Iowa Museum of Art

What is it:

The Recursions show explores the collaborative space between visual artists working intermedially and sound artists working electronically. This show provides the opportunity for you to work with artists in another discipline to produce a short piece that you will show in a one hour exhibition in the Lasansky Room of the University of Iowa Museum of Art.

Project parameters:

Projects are 5-10 minutes in length, and can be any media or performance that you can install and "strike" quickly. The museum will allow us to begin setup the afternoon of the show. Projects must be removed by the end of the evening. We will have projection equipment, a computer, and sound equipment set up for your use.

Audience:

The Museum of Art publicizes the show in their calendar of events, and we distribute both paper and email flyers to announce the show. For past shows, the Lasansky Room has been filled to capacity with an audience of approximately 100.

Why you should participate:

This is a great chance to show your work in a prestigious public venue and interdisciplinary collaboration is an expansive and rewarding creative endeavor.

How it works:

Send me an e-mail at mneucollins@gmail.com, to let me know you are interested in taking part. Also send, or arrange to have me see/ experience/hear, a small representative sample of your work. If you already have a collaborator in mind, let me know that as well. I will try to match you up with an artist working in a different discipline whose work seems to be complimentary to yours based on the sample you provide. If you meet your collaborator and immediately see that this arranged marriage won't work, I will try to match you up with someone else.
