November 8th, 7:30pm—Non-fiction Readings: Colleen Kinder, writer-in-residence (Earthwords, 6:00-7:00pm)

Kinder is a native of Buffalo, NY and a 2003 graduate of Yale University. She is the author of Delaying the Real World, and co-editor of Confessions of a High School Word Nerd. She has also published articles and essays in The New Republic, Salon, Ninth Letter, and Random House's anthology 20-Something Essays by 20-Something Writers. She will be joined by Chris Offutt.

November 11th, 2:00pm—Music at the Museum Madrigals from the Italian, French, and English repertoire

Eight UI undergraduate vocal students have formed a madrigal group under the direction of Shari Rhoads. The group, featuring sopranos Kelsey Williams, Lexi Schiano, Samantha Blickhan, and Lauren Baker; tenors Robert Kemp and Aaron Sunstein; and basses Ivo Suarez and Joe Ellickson, will perform unaccompanied French chansons and Italian and English madrigals from the 15th century.

November 15th, 7:30pm—"Recursions," by Mark NeuCollins (Adjunct Assistant Professor, UI School of Art & Art History)

"Recursions" is not your typical museum show. Based upon samples of past work, participating artists from the Intermedia Area, the Cinema and Comparative Literature Department, and Electronic Music Studios team up with artists from other disciplines to produce new works for the show. "Recursions" sets up a fertile ground for the creation of collaborative artwork and provides a venue for it to be shown. "What results is a fusion of visual and aural art that is stimulating on many levels, sensually, aesthetically, and intellectually," said Mark NeuCollins, a UI adjunct assistant professor in the School of Art & Art History and coordinator of the event.

December 7th, 5:00-7:00pm—Know the Score LIVE!

The piano—or more appropriately music for piano—will be our focus when we bring back one of our favorite guests, UI faculty member Ksenia Nosikova. She and some of her most accomplished piano students will perform and fill us in on a recently-developed concert series held in the University of Iowa’s Old Capitol Museum called “Piano Sundays.” Nosikova will also perform works by the young female American/ Russian composer Lera Auerbach whose works Nosikova has recently recorded.
