"Infusion" was a collaborative video project with Electronic Music Composer Jean-Paul Perrotte that was created for the Spatial Intersections II show at the University of Iowa Museum of Art. It was later selected to be shown at the SEAMUS (Society of Electro-Acoustic Musicians) national conference.
The collaborative working relationship was quite successful. Agreeing on a general theme at our first meeting, we each independently developed media around that theme, coming together frequently to show each other our work and trade ideas. Over the course of several weeks leading up to the show, the music, imagery and timing became tighter and tighter. As the show approached, however, we were still tweaking and revising. The day of the show, we still had no disk, so decided to manually sync the video and the computer-based sound file at the show. Jean-Paul stood across the room and counted down from 5, whereupon we simultaneously pressed our buttons (video in a tape deck, sound in a computer file). Murphy's law states that if anything can go wrong it will, but there is a little known correlary to this law: if everything can go wrong, then nothing will. The sound and video synced perfectly. We made the dvd immediately after the show.
